Summer vacation in Europe: five beautiful road trips

As is well known, anticipation is the best joy, and the dreary January is perfect for planning a vacation in summer. You love road trips as much as we do? Then you should definitely read on now, because today we are introducing you five particularly beautiful routes in Europe!
We also give you tips for the possible travel length. But as with any road trip, always plan flexibly, because often you fall in love on the way and spontaneously want to stay at a new favorite one or two nights. And of course there is always the possibility from the start not only to plan a short stop in particularly beautiful places, but also to plan a few nights.
Of course, there are countless other beautiful road trips in Europe (some of which are also on our Bucket List), but today we would like to give you five very personal recommendations that we have implemented in recent years.
Road trips in Europe: five particularly beautiful routes
A road trip through Italy: from Germany to Apulia
Recommended travel length: Two and three weeks
One of the most beautiful road trips in recent years and still one of the most read articles on Josie Loves: the route from Germany to Puglia, with stops at Lake Como, Portofino, Tuscany and on the Amalfik coast. You can read our detailed article with all important information here.
The Austrian Romantic Road from Salzburg to Vienna
Recommended travel length: One week
A wonderful little road trip, where you can combine the two most beautiful cities in Austria with idyllic nature in a week. From Salzburg you drive on a distance of around 380 kilometers away from the highway to Vienna and can enjoy many fantastic views. Among other things, there are some charming places such as Hallstatt and Gmunden and well -known lakes such as the Wolfgangsee, the Fuschlsee and the Traunsee. Our recommendation for the overnight stops: Salzburg – Attersee or Traunsee – Linz – Vienna. You can find out more about our Austria RoadTrip 2022 here.

An XXL road trip from Germany to Mallorca
Recommended travel length: Four – six weeks
Have you ever driven to an island by car? We dared to “by car from Germany to Mallorca” adventure a year ago and this road trip is one of our loved ones in Europe so far. Even though it took place in winter. We would recommend that you only get this big trip if you also have a little more time for a stay in Mallorca. The flight is worth it for “only one week”. For example, we planned a week for the outward journey, four weeks in Mallorca and a week of return.
But of course you can vary and, for example, plan significantly more time in Barcelona and on the Côte d’Azur. A week for arrival, two weeks in Mallorca and two weeks for the return trip with longer stops on the Côte d’Azur and in Italy there would also be a very nice variant. All of our tips and the detailed route plans can be found in these two articles:
1. A road trip through Europe: with the electric car from Germany to Mallorca
2. Our road trip with an electric car from Mallorca via Barcelona, the Côte d’Azur and Italy to Munich

A Slovenia RoadTrip, including stops in the Triglav National Park and on the coast
Recommended travel length: Ten days
In July last year we got to know some of the country’s most beautiful places on our Slovenia RoadTrip. Natural idyll in the Triglav National Park, the living capital Ljubljana, historical sights and charming coastal towns: The variety of Slovenia was very excited! How our route looked like and which stops we would recommend, we will tell you in the detailed article!

An Andalusia RoadTrip from Seville to Marbella
Recommended travel length: Ten days
Theoretically you could also pull a Andalusia road trip very long, but today we would like to recommend an exciting, shorter route for a one-week road trip. Of course you can also drive from Germany by car to Andalusia, but that demands significantly more time for the trip. We flew to Málaga and took over the rental car there. Our route recommendation for ten days: Málaga – Ronda – Sevilla – Tarifa – Costa del Sol (we rented an apartment near Marbella). You can find out more about the highlight of our route in this post.
An expansion for the trip: from Sevilla to the Algarve, to Faro it is only around 200 kilometers. And as is well known, some of the most beautiful beaches in Europe await you.
