A special retreat on Sylt – the Senhoog Ferienhaus Salwasserherz

Advertising – an invitation from Senhoog
It was three years ago that we got to know a very special holiday home from Senhoog in Leogang. At the beginning of February we visited the counterpart in northern Germany – and although at first glance it could hardly have been more different, the holiday home gave us the same, wonderful feeling: arrive at home.
For us it was the first visit to Sylt, and the journey by car on the Wadden Sea made us feel the magic of this island that she radiates in the off -season.
After arriving at the train station in Westerland, only a short car ride from about 15 minutes followed to our home for the next few days: the Salzwasserherz holiday home in rural Morsum, in the far east of the island.

The Senhoog Ferienhaus Salwasserherz in Morsum on Sylt
We were welcomed by our hostess, with whom we had already been in contact with WhatsApp in advance. During the tour of the 160 square meter house, she told us about the area and gave us tips for our time on Sylt. It was accessible to us during our entire stay – uncomplicated and personally.
Small, but so fine details: not only were there a beautiful bouquet of flowers and fresh fruit on the solid oak table in the kitchen, in the fridge there was also a fine basic equipment of food.

Hungry from the arrival, we made a portion of fried eggs without any frills, which with fresh bread and in this beautiful feel -good atmosphere just tasted so much better than some elaborate meals in the restaurant.
It quickly became clear to us: We would not eat in the coming days. The atmosphere of our house and the kitchen was too well equipped was too beautiful so as not to fully exploit it.

Everything you could need to bake or cook was in one of the cupboards. Even a Teppanyaki plate is installed next to the classic hob. And the large, cozy dining area in the kitchen was so inviting that we not only had a long and extensive breakfast in the morning, but also played games and set up our workplace.

Our favorite place for reading: the cozy armchairs in front of the fireplace. The ancient tiled stove dates from the 18th century. We sat there in a blanket, with a steaming cup of tea in our hand, and listened to the soothing crackle of the fireplace. A nice mix of Sylt literature and novels are waiting for the guests in the in-house mini library. And a diverse game collection with which we would have liked to have spent much more time.

The Senhoog Ferienhaus Salwasserherz: A vacation home for the whole family
A charming spiral staircase takes you to the first floor of the house, where there are two bedrooms and two bathrooms – one of them with a bathtub. With beautiful wooden floors in the bedrooms and tiles in love with detail in the bathrooms.

Another staircase leads to a very special room under the roof, which combines the children’s bedroom with two pirate sleep barkers with a playroom. In total, the house offers space for four adults and two children.
The attention to detail runs through the entire house. Charming, traditional elements meet the highest modern comfort and technical finesse. The high-quality linen bed linen, into which you like to snuggle up at night, the Dyson-Fön with various essays, the great care products of the Swedish brand L: A Bruket, a poet record player, numerous candles and a sonos sound system in all rooms-all these details make the stay special.

The Senhoog Ferienhaus Salwasserherz: The Garden
Another highlight: the garden of the house. On 1,000 square meters there are three sun terraces on which you can enjoy the Sylt sun. The terraces are a real paradise for sun worshipers – a place called Sölring Senhoog in the old Sylt language. One of the terraces is equipped directly in front of the house and with a beautiful beach chair and a seating area. How nice it must be to have breakfast on this terrace in summer …

Even in winter you can spend wonderful time in the beach chair, protected from the wind and snuggled into a blanket – with a good book in your hand. In summer, the terrace becomes the perfect place for mild evenings and grill parties with favorite people.

A very special luxury in the garden: a bath house with a sauna! It was too good to walk through the clinking cold in the fluffy bathrobe in the evening and to spend an hour or two in the warm bath house – two saunas were on our program every evening.

Walking and activities in Morsum and the surrounding area
The tranquil morsum in the east of the island has a lot to offer! The traditional village is characterized by idyllic thatched roof houses, small farm shops and farms. From the house you can run directly to the dike over wide fields and walk along the Wadden Sea. Exactly the right place to enjoy the calm of nature, to breathe fresh air in and just be in the here and now. The Morsum Kliff is just a few minutes away, a fascinating natural monument with millions of years old earth layers and extensive heath areas.
Morsum is beautiful, but of course it also makes sense to discover the whole island by car (or bike in summer). Around half an hour you drive to List to the northernmost end of Sylt, a little shorter to the southernmost tip to Hörnum.

Westerland can be reached in around ten minutes, as well as the wide sandy beaches that invite you to hours of walks even in winter.

Everything can, nothing has to. Even if this dreamlike house is tempted to only move between the house, garden and bath house all day, of course we did a lot on Sylt in our time and got to know and love the island. Beach walks, stroll through the small shops, immerse yourself in the history of the island.

The most beautiful after a long walk with a dog? Back to come to this place of wellbeing and put on a tea. A diverse selection of Ronnefeldt-Tees is waiting for the Senhoog guests in the holiday home.

If you travel with an electric car, you can recharge the battery at the in-house electric charging station overnight.

Sylt in winter? Absolutely! Winter is the time of cosiness. Without a guilty conscience, sleep in a cozy bed – followed by a fragrant cup of coffee on the armchair in the bedroom – with first rays of the sun on the face and view over the vastness of the fields and the dike in the background.

Walk through the dunes, enjoy the silence of the island, inhale fresh, cold air – spend a lot of time outside, even more time inside. Cooking comfortably, celebrating a cup of tea, playing, reading and lingering at the fireplace in the holiday home. Pure relaxation – and an absolute recommendation for the heart for a break on Sylt, in which the batteries are recharged.

Good to Know: In Westerland there is another Senhoog holiday home, which is also very charming lighthouse soul. You can find out more about the two Senhoog chalets in Leogang here!
