Do you remember this article from last summer? In the article in question, we not only shared some general (and really very good!) For a trip to South Tyrol, but also highlighted how wonderful a trip feels in the warm season. But be careful: South Tyrol is not only worth a trip in summer – it enchants all year round.

 

Because even if you are not an enthusiastic skier, there are countless ways to discover, experience and – especially – to enjoy the region in winter.

Incidentally, “Winter in South Tyrol” does not always mean “snow en masse”, but a guarantee for the following: cosiness, fresh air, hospitality, culinary highlights, wellness at the highest level and a lot of joie de vivre. Here are a few excellent reasons why South Tyrol is also a real highlight in winter.

1. So much sun – even in winter: South Tyrol is one of the sunniest regions in Europe, with over 300 sunny days a year. Even in winter, the bright days lure with a deep blue sky – a wonderful change to the gray winter months in Germany.

3. Star clear nights and a very special atmosphere: The clear nights in South Tyrol create a magical mood. The silence of the winter landscape and the sparkling starry sky make winter at a very special time.

4. Winter sports: No matter whether skiing, snowboarding, tobogganing or cross -country skiing – South Tyrol offers a huge variety of winter sports. A paradise with varied cross -country skiing rates can be found in a great setting.

5. The cuisine: South Tyrolean cuisine is a dream – and winter is the enjoyment time of the year. It is cooked a lot regionally and seasonally – and in winter this means: cabbage vegetables, chestnuts and delicious apple desserts. Heartly filled Schlutzkrapfen, homemade dumplings and a good glass of wine…. The water in my mouth runs together when I write. By the way: In South Tyrol, in addition to many traditional inns and charming huts, there are also very creative international concepts and several first -class star restaurants!

6. Magical Christmas markets: Even if the Christmas season is already over, the South Tyrolean Christkindlmarkets are a highlight that should be noted for the end of the year. Especially the markets in Brixen, Merano and Bozen enchant with handmade products, mulled wine and Christmas music. For example, you can visit smaller, particularly charming Christmas markets in Lana, Glurns and Sterzing.
