You should do these 10 things!

We have to hold out a little more, but we are already moving to the beginning of the spring with big steps. And that means: life in our beautiful city will be more and more outdoors in a few weeks. And because anticipation is known to be the best pleasure, we are already devoting spring in Munich to a blog special!

We love Munich for all the parks, the ice cream parlors, the beer gardens, the many bike paths and the Isar, which enables us to bathe in the middle of the city center. Up to the afternoons in the bikini on the Isar or in the English garden, we still have to be patient a little, but spring makes great anticipation for the warm season, right?

We have bundled a few things that we will look forward to in the coming months in our beautiful city.

Spring in Munich: Ten things that you should do now

1. Back outdoors again – sitting in a café for hours at the weekend, enjoying the sun and delicious brunches – for example in the Maria or Madam Anna Ekke in the Glockenbachviertel, Mary’s Coffee Club in Maxvorstadt, in the Cotidiano on Gärtnerplatz or in Duuo in the Westend . I had introduced you to the best breakfast cafes in Munich.

2. Finally cycling again – Munich is undoubtedly the bike city. And even in the cold winter, the Münchner are on the road to move from A to B. In spring we not only ride every possible route by bike, but also cycle “just just for fun”, preferably along the Isar. PS: Don’t forget a helmet!

3. A trip to the Nymphenburg Castle-yes, the Nymphenburg Castle is the tourist magnet par excellence, but this beautiful Munich highlight is always a worthwhile goal for locals-and the castle park is the perfect place for a long spring walk.

4. And if we are already a walk on the subject of a walk: in spring we may not be able to swim in the Isar – but walk in the sun for hours – preferably with a delicious smoothie from the Wagner’s Juicery. Makes a small detour to the rose garden in Untergiesing, where countless different plants grow on 3,000 square meters. In the spring, the most beautiful spring flowers, cherry blossoms and magnolias bloom in the immediate vicinity of the Isar.

5. Eat a lot of ice cream. By the way, our favorite ice cream parlor is Jessas in the Glockenbachviertel (Klenzestraße 97). And yours?

6. Spring is also the time when we get our roller skates and inline skates out of the basement again! The mild temperatures are perfect for a tour with friends. Preferably in the English garden or the Olympic Park. By the way, you can practice on the Theresienwiese in spring, the Oktoberfest will only be built up from summer.

7. A trip to the Eibsee – about an hour and a half from Munich is this incredibly beautiful piece of earth, which is rightly called “the Maldives” of Bavaria. And in spring it is much more relaxed there than in summer – but of course just as beautiful.

8. The first (and second, and third and….) Visit to the beer garden. Our favorite: the forestry Großhesselohe, which can be connected to a small bike tour along the Isar.

The Munich Hoffloh markets

9. Visit the Munich Hoffloh markets – they will start in Pasing in 2025 in mid -March and run until autumn. You can not only get great bargains on the flea markets, but also get to know the most beautiful backyards in the city. Whenever we are there, we take part in the Glockenbachviertel Hofflohmarkt and always have great fun. This year will take place on May 17th. Another highlight in spring: the big flea market on Theresienwiese on Saturday, April 26, 2025.

10. Look at the sunset including a fantastic panoramic view via Munich on the Olympicberg. Of course, it works in winter, but with double -digit plus degrees this is clearly a lot more fun … Speaking of Olympic Park: The numerous cherry flower trees also bloom there in spring (about mid -April). A very nice sight!

PS: You don’t live in Munich, but are planning a (weekend) trip to the most beautiful city in Germany?
